Teenagers Discover Dead Body in Suitcase While Filming TikTok Video

Something traumatic happened that changed my life, chekkk.”

That was the title beneath a Seattle teenager’s TikTok video that starts out innocuous enough. Two young women, and the young man behind the camera, are smiling at the beach in Washington State. A caption on the screen reads “Randonaut sent us to this part of the beach…and we found this black suitcase,” referring to Randonautica, an app that gives users random coordinates that they can travel to for “an adventure.”

Of course, Randonauts usually end up behind parks or near a McDonalds drive-thru. These teenage adventurers, however, were given coordinates at the beach, where they spotted that mysterious black suitcase. In the video, they are all smiles as they approach the suitcase, giggling about what could be inside.

“We were joking that maybe the suitcase had money,” the next caption reads, as one teenage girl descends some rocks towards the black suitcase. But after unzipping the suitcase, they find a parcel wrapped in a black garbage bag. The caption reads, “As SOON as she opened it, the smell was overwhelming.”

Crime Scene

The TikTok teens called authorities, and soon after, the Seattle Police designated the area a crime scene.  It wasn’t long until police confirmed that the suitcase “contained human remains.”

On Seattle.Gov, the following report verified the designation:

Detectives are currently investigating after several bags containing human remains were located near the water in the 1100 block of Alki Avenue SW this afternoon.

Police responded after receiving a call of a suspicious bag on the beach. Another bag was located in the water. Once the contents were determined to be remains, detectives responded to begin their investigation.

Harbor Patrol is assisting on the call, and detectives will work closely with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation proceeds. This remains an active and on-going investigation.

Though the body has not been identified, one TikTok user is sure to gain a few new followers. The video has already stacked up 3.6 million views.
